Mary-Liz Trant PhD
Executive Director, SOLAS
Dr Mary-Liz Trant is an Executive Director in the further education and training authority SOLAS. Overseeing skills development, her areas of responsibility include expansion of the national apprenticeship and traineeship systems; upskilling in the Irish workforce; technology-enhanced learning; enterprise engagement; and professional development of teachers and tutors within further education and training.
Previously Mary-Liz held senior posts in the Higher Education Authority (HEA) as Head of Skills and Enterprise Engagement and Head of the National Office for Equity of Access to Higher Education. Earlier in her career Mary-Liz taught at both second and third-level. Mary-Liz holds a doctorate in Education from University College London; Masters’ Degrees in Education (University of Limerick) and in French (University of Regina Canada); and a Higher Diploma in Education from Trinity College Dublin. She has published on equality of access in education; inclusive teaching and learning, curriculum development, assessment; and the liberal vocational ideal.
Research Professor, the Economic and Social Research Institute
Kieran works on the Quarterly Economic Commentary (QEC) and housing-related projects. His research interests include house prices, economic growth and household finance. He started his career in University College Cork and then joined Teagasc, the Irish agriculture and food development authority, where he worked for over 5 years as a research economist. Kieran has a PhD in economics from NUI Maynooth and has published ina broad number of international and domestic journals. He is adjunct professor of economics at both Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork. Eibhlín is a chartered member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland. She holds a post-graduate diploma in Construction Law and Contract Administration from Trinity College and a Masters in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King’s College, London. Eibhlín is a passive house designer and a trained BER assessor and is responsible for setting Clúid’s design standards.
She manages the procurement, contract administration and overall regulatory compliance of Clúid’s construction program. Eibhlín is a member of Clúid’s Operations Team tasked with running the day to day operations of the business. She has extensive design and project management experience having worked for over 19 years in the construction industry.
Richard Casey, Director Ireland/Europe Operations, DPS
Richard is a Senior Lean Construction Productivity Manager with DPS. He has over 20 years’ experience in the global semiconductor high volume manufacturing and construction sectors completing project management, systems design and lean programme implementation. Richard has significant experience in lean principles implementation of productivity systems and structure for manufacturing and construction as well as extensive experience in developing productivity improvement systems to reduce waste and eliminate impacts from design through to commissioning for large capital projects.
He is the author of a number of papers on ‘People Development’ and has published his own book on goal setting and problem-solving techniques for new managers. Richard has developed Trade productivity improvement systems such as the Daily Milestone Tracker (DMT), Constraint Log Implementation and Last Planner® for tracking and managing large scale project progress.

Leslee joined Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s Graduate Training Programme in the United States in 1997. David leads manufacturing excellence across the Group’s two offsite production centres in Northern Ireland, implementing continuous improvement and innovative processes to further enhance efficiency and increase capacity to meet demand. He takes responsibility for applying new digital solutions and lean processes to improve efficiency and productivity of the offsite manufacturing process, which will support The McAvoy Group’s ambitious plans for growth.
David joined McAvoy as Group Design and Engineering Manager in 2012. He progressed toInnovation Manager and was also responsible for the Group’s award-winning BIM strategy and implementation. His successes have included leading McAvoy to become the first offsite specialist in the UK to be accredited to BIM Level 2, and spearheading the Group’s pioneering use of virtual reality to improve customer engagement in the offsite design process.
He has 20 years of experience in manufacturing for the construction sector which has included specialist cladding and structural steel solutions. He was recently successful in achieving an MSc in BIM and Project Management from Queen’s University Belfast, and also holds a BSc (Hons) in Manufacturing Management.

Fergal Murphy is the newly appointed General Manager of Kingspan Insulation Ireland. Fergal is a graduate of the school of Architectural Technology in Dublin Institute of Technology and he also holds a Master’s Degree in Management for Sustainable Development from Dublin City University.
Fergal started his professional career as an Architectural Technologist. He has worked in two very busy Architectural practices in both Cavan and Dublin, undertaking a wide variety of technically challenging and demanding projects. He developed a keen focus on energy efficient design and a practical approach to achieving low energy buildings.
Fergal joined the Kingspan team in 2000, beginning his journey as a Specifications & Business Development Manager for Kingspan Insulated Panels, progressing into the Regional Sales Manager role for Ireland. In 2009, Fergal moved to the USA to take up the role of National Sales Director which quickly advanced to VP of Sales & Business Development for the USA & Mexico.
He returned to Ireland in 2016 to take on the role of Commercial Director for Kingspan Insulated Panels & Benchmark which lead to his current role as General Manager of our insulation businesses in Ireland.

Orla is a Chartered Engineer who joined SEAI as Programme Manager for NZEB and High Performance Retrofit. She has 20 years’ experience in the energy performance of buildings both in Ireland and Australia. As a consultant Orla was involved the environmental, energy and sustainable assessment of both new and existing buildings.

Emma has over 20 years’ experience in the architect, engineering and construction (AEC)industry in Ireland and internationally. She is a Chartered ArchitecturalTechnologist and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Technology from Dublin Institute of Technology and a Masters Degree in BIM Management from Middlesex University.
Previously, Emma was the Group BIM Manager for a large multi-disciplined AEC and project management organisation. She was responsible for developing and implementing group BIM strategy and roll-out of procedures and workflows forBIM adoption across the organisation’s network of offices in Europe, Asia and the US. She has executed BIM on high-value complex projects in pharma, food and energy. She also has extensive experience in delivering residential, retail and commercial projects.
Emma is actively involved in driving progress in BIM adoption in the AEC industry as a non-executive director on the board of the Construction IT Alliance and participation on the judging panel for the BIM Excellence category at the annual Irish Construction ExcellenceAwards. Padraig joined JJ Rhatigan in 2006 as a Senior Contracts Manager. This role involved establishing, implementing and monitoring efficient design, procurement, engagement and commercial procedures during all stages of a project’s contract.
Further to the responsibility of securing and managing new contracts, Padraig oversaw cost control for projects, updating JJ Rhatigan & Company clients on budgetary control, oversees snagging, supervises final handover and liaises with the client during the defects period.
He has been involved in several projects which have been carried out under varying contract forms, from traditional to design and build. Seán is responsible for regulations and standards related to energy efficiency, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Part L and Part F of the Building Regulations and has led the development of Nearly Zero Energy Building Regulations in Ireland. He represents Ireland on the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive Committee and has led the development of several standards related to energy efficiency including S.R. 54 the National Retrofit Code of Practice. He is a Chartered Engineer with a Masters in Engineering.
